The wood shows some scattered faint marks but no significant imperfections. Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are a two piece smooth walnut set, the forend has a metal nose cap, the butt stock has a straight grip, Marlin bullseye is in the belly and checkered black plastic buttplate. The top and left of the receiver are drilled, tapped and filled for optics or peep sights. The rear sight is a folding “U” notched leaf on a slide-step elevator and also set in a dovetail. Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade, dovetailed in a hooded serrated ramped base that is screwed to the barrel. The bottom of the bolt is hand-marked “440K”. The right of the barrel has Marlin’s two-line warning. The top tang and the inside of the barrel-section of the receiver have the serial number. MICRO-GROOVE BARREL”, “MODEL 39TDS”, with a poorly struck “JM” on the left at the chamber. Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “The Marlin Firearms Co.
